I BECAME A CEO AT 33 BECAUSE I GOT RESULTS.

I also learned a lot the hard way. Early mentors helped me smooth out rough edges by encouraging me to join the Young Presidents Organization (YPO). I honed my leadership and facilitation skills as a YPO Forum Moderator and converted those to use as a Certified Forum Facilitator for YPO globally.

My intense drive to increase top and bottom lines drove me to understand how to engage and motivate people. I became a leadership junkie and remain one today. Like the leaders I coach, being in control of my destiny was essential, so without the capital to own a controlling interest in a startup or existing business, I turned to consulting and coaching.

In 1990, I started JKM Management, an executive coaching and leadership development firm. Over a span of more than 30 years, I have assisted thousands of CEOs and other senior executives to build extreme self-awareness, develop strong leadership styles, enhance relationship skills and to expand these skills to teams throughout their organizations.

My industry experience includes technology, healthcare, transportation, manufacturing, and financial services, to name a few. I am trained in board governance by the National Association of Corporate Directors and have extensive experience in behavioral assessment and several psychotherapy models. I served on the board of directors of Jack Cooper Transport, where I chaired the Compensation Committee and was a member of the Audit Committee. I have also been a guest lecturer at Case Western Reserve University’s Weatherhead School of Management.

As a volunteer, I serve as Chair of the Board of Trustees of True Freedom Enterprises (TFE). Their mission is to revolutionize prisoner reentry to society to reduce recidivism. TFE provides job skills training and placement to prisoners during their final year of incarceration and integrates them with employers before their release date. TFE provides transitional housing with an emphasis on dignity and character development programs.

When not assisting business leaders and working with prisoners, I enjoy riding my Harley-Davidson motorcycle, traveling with my wife Mary, and spending time with our six children and 13 grandchildren.
